Problem: How do we create an engaging educational program, deliver it to students across time zones, and ensure that they are receiving necessary support to be successful?
During COVID, schools worldwide faced the challenge of transitioning to an online education model. As countries across Asia began to close their borders for an indefinite period, many students from international schools returned to their home countries. This raised the question of how to deliver engaging, high-quality educational programs across various time zones, ensuring that students remained actively involved with their teachers and peers.
Bouwer Consulting collaborated closely with senior leaders to create a Remote Learning Program for K-5 students unable to participate in the virtual offerings available in Vietnam. By thoughtfully assessing the diverse needs of students across various time zones, we designed a tailored curriculum for each grade level and created the online platform for students to access. Additionally, identifying power standards and creating curriculum pacing guides that were specific to this program’s needs, parents and teachers were assured that students were receiving the same academic quality instruction as those who were enrolled in the Vietnam time specific virtual offerings. Furthermore, we developed and wrote the Remote Learning handbook to guide parents and students through their journey in this new program. With the guidance of an education facilitator, students were grouped into cohorts based on similar ages and time zones. This approach fostered meaningful engagement and helped students continue to feel connected to their classroom community, even from afar.
